How safe is Kathmandu?
Last Sunday (26th July, 2020), I travelled by public bus from Sundarijal to Bouddha. Everything was going on fine till we reached Gokarneshwor temple, there people to wearing mask get into the bus. They were sharing dry foods. I was shocked because, for four months, I hadn’t been out of my room and I had heard people in Kathmandu are self-aware and also the conductor in the bus ask the passenger to have preventive measures and provide sanitizer to all. But there seems nothing there.
As it had been long, I hadn’t been out, guessing I have reached Bouddha, I get out of the bus at Bouddha Pipalbot. I walked from there to Bouddha.
There very few people were walking around the Bouddhanath. Well, most of the people were wearing a mask. I also roundup 3 three times. I found a college friend of mine and talking with him went to his home. We discussed the current situation and the TU exam. It was too late probably 8 PM when I was returning to my residence. After waiting for more than 15 minutes at Bus Stop, a bus full of passengers, even people were standing in a row inside the bus. I was not willing to get into the bus, bus my friends insisted to get that, otherwise, I couldn’t get anyone then. People weren’t wearing a mask, I felt so much scared and get out of it when I reached Nepal Medical College. I was thinking to get a taxi but remembered the same condition/no measures there too. I walked on for 45 minutes to reach my residence.
